*Optional for added protection of color in cementitious materials.
The Super-Krete Super-Stamp Overlay system is designed for use over concrete to create a decorative yet natural appearance to concrete surfaces. The possibilities of design are endless- with over 200 stamp and texturing mats and a wide variety of colors to choose from or create. The Super-Krete Single Component Stamp overlay system is applied at a thin ¼” and is then stamped. The application of Super-Stamp does not require the use of a bond coat or primer. This system allows regular, unappealing concrete to turn into a decorative masterpiece at a fraction of the cost to remove and replace the concrete completely. Use this system to clean, strengthen, stabilize, resurface, protect and seal and beautify concrete.
Helpful Hints
All expansion joints must be honored when coating over existing concrete. As when applying any overlay system including Super-Krete ¼” Single Component Stamp Overlay System, pay extra attention to where the joints are and honor them. It is common to incorporate expansion joints into the desired pattern or texture of choice. Do not coat over expansion joints!
This system will take approximately 5 days to complete and will require at least three persons for the simplest application. Larger areas may require several sets of Stamp and Texturing Tools. Tape off all edges prior to applying any coatings to protect the surrounding areas.
With this application, it is important to remember to “stay within yourself”. Because the product must be soft-to-the-touch in order to be stamped, it is imperative that you do not mix and pour out more material than you are able to stamp at a time. Always determine your starting and ending point in advance, and tape off all edges to protect surrounding areas. Know in advance how your stamping tools piece together, and keep your work areas clean and organized for easy application and clean up.
Super-Stamp is available in White and Gray. When using vibrant colored Color Stains, it is recommended that you use WHITE Super-Stamp. For darker colored Color Stains, we recommend using GRAY Super-Stamp.
SURFACE PREPARATION
All existing concrete surfaces must be structurally sound, solid and completely clean. Remove all sealers, curing compounds, curing agents, dust, dirt oil and other contaminants that may act as a bond-breaker.
New concrete must be allowed to cure for 28 days.
Review and follow Super-Krete Specification S-1 Surface Preparation for required surface preparation procedures.
CRACK TREATMENT
Review and follow Super-Krete S-9900 Crack Repair System.
CONCRETE RESURFACING
Mix each bag of Super-Stamp with four to five quarts of clean water per bag. Additional water may be required in warmer climates, to achieve a “pancake batter” consistency. Less water may be used in cooler weather or on cold concrete. This system does not require a surface bonding agent.
Mist the concrete surface with water and, from the wall out, apply Super-Stamp with a Gauge Rake at a ¼” thickness evenly over the surface at a rate of approximately 25 square feet per bag. Us a Flex Smoother to remove any lines that may appear from the gauge rake application. A light mist of water on the overlay will assist in finishing. Remember to honor all expansion joints by marking them with a trowel, and clear Super-Stamp out of those areas completely, following the line of the joint from the beginning to end.
Allow Super-Stamp to set so that it is pliable, but do not allow Super-Stamp to set completely before the surface is stamped / textured. Overlay is to be pliable, but not sticking to the touch or tools.
Using a hand held sprayer, spray Liquid Release Agent onto the stamp tool and onto the surface area to be stamped simultaneously. Do not spray Liquid Release Agent again too far ahead as it will evaporate before you are able to get to the area and stamp it.
Lay the stamps onto the surface, and either walk or tamp in the impression. Then remove the stamp, and move to an unimprinted area and repeat the process until the entire surface has the impression of the stamps. Be sure to lock the stamps tightly together to create your pattern when stamping. Pay attention to the lines, joints and details of the pattern when placing the stamps side by side. Always check the impression before you remove the stamp to ensure the pattern has been fully compressed into Super-Stamp.
Allow Super-Stamp to completely dry for at least 24 hours.
On the following day, tool out the unclean grout lines, and use a diamond cut blade to open the expansion joints. Sweep or blow off all debris.
Wet the stamped area with water and clean the entire surface with Super-Scrub using a broom. Rinse surface thoroughly with clean water.
If any shrinkage cracks are visible, sponge in wet Super-Stamp into the cracks and remove all excess material.
Enhance the surface by adding color. Refer to the section of this manual entitled “Waterbased Color Staining Techniques”.
Refer to the section of this manual entitled “Selecting the Right Sealer”. Two coats of the preferred Super-Krete sealer are required over this application to ensure durability, wear and ease of maintenance. The colored surface should be left to dry completely for a period of 24 hours before applying any sealers.
Limitations
Super-Krete does not warrant against cracks returning or other Acts of God.
