This system consists of Super-Krete Broom Finish System topped with Super-Krete Ure-Kote Paint (available in 20 colors), Paint Chips (available in any blend of 11 standard colors) and two coats of Supra-Seal protective sealer.

 

Paint Chips are optional to achieve an ultimate decorative finish.

 

APPLICATION INSTRUCTION FOR S-5000 INDUSTRIAL FLOOR SYSTEM:

 

 

This system is designed to achieve a decorative finish for industrial areas such as garage floors, kitchens, warehouse and laundries.

 

To apply this system over existing concrete, follow the procedure in the S-1000 BROOM FINISH specification. Ure-Kote paint is intended for use over Super-Krete Bond-Kote (typically in a broom finish).

 

Broom finishes provide an economical alternative to the removal and replacement of existing concrete.  This system creates a flexible and durable finish that can be used to resurface and create decorative patterns and designs, with or without integral coloring.  When property sealed, the new finish will resist gas, oils, water, salts, freeze thaw cycles and ultraviolet rays.

Following are the steps required to perform a concrete resurfacing for industrial areas with a decorative flair.

 

SURFACE PREPARATION

 

New concrete must be allowed to cure for 28 days.

 

Review and follow Super-Krete Specification S-1 Surface Preparation for required surface preparation procedures.

 

CRACK TREATMENT

 

Review and follow Super-Krete S-9900 Crack Treatment System.

 

CONCRETE RESURFACING

 

This method can be used to produce either a subsurface bond coat or a wearing surface.  The objective is to fill all minor pop-outs, variations and cracks with as thin a coat as possible (typical is 1/16”per 2 coats).  A three man crew performing a squeegee application should complete 20,000 to 30,000 square feet of open area per day (per coat).  Rougher areas will require additional time. 

 

Keep the concrete surface damp with clean water at all times during the application of Bond-Kote.

 

Dampen the surface, not allowing water to puddle. Prepare a Bond-Kote mixture by adding desired amount of water to achieve a pourable, flowable consistency.  Mix material well with a jiffy mixer.  The actual amount of water needed will vary depending on outside factors such as weather conditions.  Warmer temperatures may require more water.

 

Fill spalls and holes with a dry-pack Bond-Kote mixture, feathering the edges with a trowel and water.  Then, mist the entire surface with water, not allowing it to puddle. 

 

Pour the Bond-Kote mixture onto the surface apply Bond-Kote at an approximate rate of 300 square feet per bag with a squeegee.  Two coats of the application are always required.

 

Apply the second coat of Bond-Kote with a squeegee and follow the squeegee application with a soft bristled broom at a rate of 300 square feet per bag, to create a broom finish.  Additional coats may be required to achieve the desired finish.  Sanding may also be required to remove ridges or marks.

 

After applying the final coat of Bond-Kote always wait 24 hours before applying any other coatings or sealers.

 

DECORATIVE OPTIONS

 

1.  Apply one coat of Ure-Kote paint in the color of choice at a rate of 125 to 175 square feet per gallon using a ¼’ non-shed nap roller, or a 3/8’ non-shed nap roller for texture.

 

2.  After the first coat has dried, apply the second coat of Ure-Kote the same way.

 

3. In the second coat, evenly broadcast your choice of a pre-blended color mix of Paint Chips at the desired rate directly on to the wet second coat.

 

4.  Wait 4 to 24 hours for the second coat of Ure-Kote to dry, and remove all excess paint chips using a broom, blower or vacuum.

 

5. Apply one thin coat of Supra-Seal I (in California) or Supra-Seal II (outside California) to the surface with a non-shed nap roller. Applying this sealer too thick will make the sealer turn white in those areas. Thin applications yield the best results.

 

6.  Wait 4 hours, and finish the system by applying the second and final coat of sealer. Important: To ensure a bond between coats, do not wait longer than 6 hours. Sanding of the first coat will be required if the first coat has dried to ensure that the second coat will bond. Wait 72 hours for this system to fully dry before allowing vehicular traffic.
